A bunch of facts that you don't really need to know about me but here they are !

Updated: Nov 24, 2019

Hi!! My name is Shae Caragher, I am a sophomore in college, live in Santa Barbara, and have absolutely no idea what I’m doing with my life… but then again does anyone really? It was just a year ago that I was planning on becoming an orthopedic surgeon in LA and proceed to live in a mansion in Beverly Hills. Now I kind of want to open a coffee shop/bookstore library type thing/bakery, most definitely travel the world, write, act, and meet lots of different people from different backgrounds who have had lots of different experiences. Is that a financially sound plan? Most definitely not. Could it be? Who knows!

I’m happy because I’ve approached a point in my life where money and status are now not my only goal. Now that I have to take meds on a day-to-day basis, I would also love to find some natural sources of “joy stimulators” to incorporate into my life (in conjunction with my medication). With that, welcome to my blog! It’s called “My Brain’s Dump” because so much of the time I feel like that’s what my writing consists of. My thoughts race so fast they could hold a world record, so in order to kind of keep up with them I try (emphasis on try) to write them out as they come and it can turn into a sort of “dump”. I then try to edit those disconnected thoughts so that they make sense and are in some sort of coherent English… sometimes they’re just not comprehensible so I keep those ramblings and run-on sentences to myself.

Anyways, this “Brain Dump” is sort of an inside look at my life, thoughts, feelings, ideas… my BRAIN. It’s a bit of a jumbled mess up there but I really do love it. I love the way that I think, observe, and view the world. With that, I’m always open to different points of view and interpretations of the world. It’s kind of boring and quite honestly very close-minded to have a solitary and narrow view of the world so I love hearing other people’s thoughts and interpretations on different topics or ideas. I am a white woman who was raised in a middle class family with two parents who love each other and I have been blessed with such incredible opportunities. With that background, I am going to see certain situations right off the bat differently than someone who grew up in a very affluent family, or in poverty, or whose parents are divorced, or who is black, or someone who grew up in rural Kansas. I think that is one of the beauties and crazy things of the world is that we can all see the same scene so completely differently. While I think my view may be “right” (I don’t really think that is the correct word to use), I always love hearing other people’s ideas. I love to learn and expand my mind and what better way than seeing a situation or event from another person’s eyes. I love hearing the experiences of others - the painful, sad, exciting, joyful etc. - so I can better learn how to love, respect, respond, and adjust my point of view. So my “brain dump” is just one perspective. 99% of the time it is based on my own experiences and interactions but I love when my “brain dump” is intertwined with the inner-workings of other’s brains.

So feel free to reach out. Share your outlook and thoughts. The beauty of this world is that we all think very differently and the world can be even more beautiful and inter-connected if we can share those different ideas with each other in a safe and respectful space. I want this blog to be one of those spaces. I hope that my struggles with mental health, body image, school, friends, family, and my own mind can spark courage and strength in others to feel not so alone and a little more understood. I want this to be a place where people can reflect and think about their own memories, backgrounds, and identities. We are all so beautifully unique so let’s celebrate that! This is a blog for me and for you - for humans!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy!
